Information regarding Area Tournament from Seminole High School We are honored to be able to host you and your team at Seminole High School for the Area Tournament. Our school is located at 2703 Highway 9 West in Seminole, Oklahoma. This location is just west of Seminole State College. (Google maps may take you to the wrong location) Our gym is located on the south side of the high school. Parking will be in the northeast and northwest parking lots. We also have a large overflow parking area to the southeast of the campus that will be available for the evening games. Coaches and team members may enter the gym through the south doors closest to the gym. All others should enter through the main north doors. Please share with your students and fans that admission is set by the OSSAA at $7 (plus fees) for everyone. The only pass accepted is the OSSAA Playoff Pass to be shown with a Driver's License. There will be a $10 cash option at the gate. We do not allow outside food or drinks. We will have a concession stand available. The gates will open an hour before the first game of each session each day. REMINDERS FROM OSSAA: • School administrators should not allow their student bodies to sit behind the opposing team's bench. • The following items will not be allowed that may be a distraction to the participants or fans. These items include bands of any size or nature, noise makers, confetti, banners, emblems, placards, signs, thunder sticks, balloons, laser lights, fat heads, megaphones or any other possible distractions.

Greetings AmPo Family, I can’t express enough the importance of conducting ourselves appropriately at ALL school activities. Also, I can’t express enough how thankful we are to those energetic students and the overwhelming majority of the AmPo Family who cheer loud and proud with positivity and encouragement. I’m especially thankful for the sportsmanship on display from the AmPo student/athletes and coaches. Your behavior has been impeccable and in-line with the historical expectations of this community. I have received compliments regarding our players and coach’s display of sportsmanship from multiple opposing fans. Some parents, grandparents, and general fans, however, have NOT shown the appropriate behavior that AmPo Family is known for and expects. Many of the AmPo fans have approached school administration in full agreement and have expressed their frustration with our poor fan behavior and the reflection it has on AmPo. Displays of poor sportsmanship are unacceptable. Verbal tirades, finger-pointing, and name calling of officials, any participant, or any school official will not be tolerated. The mocking and taunting of high school student/athletes by grown adults is inexcusable. These acts of poor sportsmanship have been demonstrated recently by some of our AmPo fans. Kids learn appropriate and inappropriate actions at games from observing the actions of the adults attending the games. Your behavior is a major influence on students’ attitude toward sportsmanship. We ask you to be: • Energetic and encouraging • Treat all participants, officials, and other fans with respect • Demonstrate positive appreciation for all players, coaches, officials, and cheerleaders • Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat Bobby Odam Principal The OSSAA has taken steps to drastically change this behavior. I’m referencing the new policy that was provided this past fall. Acts of poor sportsmanship could result in the suspension of a team for the remainder of the season. I implore you to duplicate what our student/athletes have modeled and show exceptional sportsmanship. Our kids deserve the best. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. SUSPENSION FROM ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES FOR UNSPORTING CONDUCT Any time an egregious act of unsportsmanlike conduct occurs two or more times during the same season, at the same school, in the same activity, the team and/or individual will be suspended from participation in that activity for the remainder of the season. Egregious acts of unsportsmanlike conduct will be defined as instances not within the OSSAA adopted rules of the contest. In the event the second act of misconduct occurs when there are no contests left in the current season, the penalty will be applied to the next season in the same activity. The OSSAA will notify the school that the team and/or individual has been placed on warning after the first offense. Unsportsmanlike acts under this policy will include acts by coaches, players or spectators. Please click the link below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUrwbvhbj5s
